1. Do you often read Newspaper/ Magazine?

Well, I’m actually not the type of people who dip into their daily newspapers. Since the presence of the Internet is pretty much ubiquitous nowadays, I often go online and flick through e- news on a regular basis. It is surprising to know that social media platforms like Facebook can keep you updated with what’s going on around the world.

2. Do you prefer to read local news or international news?

I actually don’t have any preference toward either of them. Domestic news is obviously important because those affairs have a direct impact on our life. On the other hand, foreign news is very interesting as they can help me enrich my horizons, therefore I don’t want to lose track of either of them.

3. Which is more popular where you live, newspapers or magazines?

I would say that these two share equal popularity in Vietnam. Newspaper, although may be a little bit old-fashioned, is still the main source of daily news for adults, especially among senior citizens. On the other hand, magazines are becoming increasingly appealing to young people for their attractive visuals nd interesting columns

4. Do you think Newspaper/ Magazine will be very important to you in the future?

I think it depends. Since the development of technology never seems to come to a halt, I strongly believe that I will choose e- newspapers over the traditional edition. Besides the obvious convenience that e- news can offer, I’m drawn to the fact that it’s much cheaper and more reliable.

Well, truth be told, I’m not a big fan of newspapers and magazines since I’m a kind of boy who loves reading comic books and fantasy novels. However, the only magazine which interests me is “Medicine and Health”.

This magazine is published weekly by the Ministry of Medicine. As much as I can remember, I first read this one accidentally by randomly grabbing one piece of newspaper on my mom’s desk to read out of boredom. I was just looking for something to do to kill time but at that moment, I couldn’t extract myself from the magazine since I am really into medicine.

It was all about medicine and medicinal herbs, especially Vietnamese herbs, and it educates people about the usage of them alongside some unwanted effects to anticipate. Moreover, there are various pieces of information about how to take care of sick people, which was quite a good source of knowledge for me to dig deeper into. If we could apply all these things in real life, it would do wonders for ourselves, and the results would be seen in no time.

I remember one time when I was away from home for the first time, I got a headache from jet lag. Unfortunately, the phone could not access the network so I couldn’t call mom at all. Keeping myself calm, I rummaged through my memories for some ways to mitigate my pain, and I found some that I had got from reading that magazine. At last, my pain was relieved and I felt thankful for the knowledge that I had accumulated.

Up till now, I am still an avid reader of this magazine and I have introduced it to some of my friends, and they really welcome it.

Thật ra mà nói, tôi không phải là người thích đọc báo và tạp chí vì tôi là một người thích đọc truyện tranh và tiểu thuyết khoa học viễn tưởng. Tuy nhiên, tạp chí duy nhất mà tôi thích là “Thuốc và Sức khỏe”.

Tạp chí này được Bộ Y Tế xuất bản hàng tuần. Theo những gì tôi có thể nhớ thì lần đầu tiên tôi vô tình đọc được quyển tạp chí này là do tình cờ lấy một tờ báo trên bàn của mẹ để đọc cho đỡ chán. Tôi chỉ đang muốn làm việc gì đó để giết thời gian nhưng vào lúc đó, tôi không thể rời mắtkhỏi quyển tạp chí vì tôi rất đam mê y học.

Toàn bộ nội dung quyển tạp chí là về y học và thảo dược, đặc biệt là các phương thuốc Việt Nam và tạp chí giáo dục mọi người về cách sử dụng thuốc cùng với một số tác dụng không mong muốn có thể dự đoán trước. Hơn nữa, có rất nhiều thông tin khác nhau về cách chăm sóc người bệnh, đây là một nguồn kiến ​​thức khá hữu ích để tôi tìm hiểu sâu hơn. Nếu chúng ta có thể áp dụng tất cả những kiến thức này vào đời sống thực tiễn thì sẽ có điều kỳ diệu đến với chính chúng ta, và chúng ta sẽ nhanh chóng cảm nhận được kết quả.

Tôi nhớ trong lần đầu tiên xa nhà, tôi bị đau đầu do lệch múi giờ.  Nhưng không may là điện thoại không kết nối mạng nên tôi không thể gọi cho mẹ được. Sau khi bình tĩnh lại, tôi cố nhớ lại để tìm ra một số cách để giảm bớt cơn đau, và tôi nhớ được một số cách trong tạp chí đó. Cuối cùng, cơn đau của tôi cũng thuyên giảm và tôi cảm thấy biết ơn vì những kiến ​​thức mà mình đã tích lũy được.

Cho đến bây giờ, tôi vẫn là một độc giả cuồng nhiệt của tạp chí này và tôi đã giới thiệu nó với một số bạn bè của mình, và họ thực sự rất thích tìm hiểu về nó.

To be honest, I don’t read magazines much these days, but I still read the one called Vietraveler, which is a tourism magazine.

The magazine contains all that we need to know in terms of traveling, such as reviews of numerous famous destinations, tips to save money when traveling or what we need to prepare for a trip. Besides, at the back of the magazine, there are a few discount coupons for some particular domestic tours which are run by tourist companies.

Always, when a new issue is published, I get it delivered to my house by post. Actually, I have been a subscriber to this magazine for almost 5 years and I fully intend to carry on reading it. As all the information in it is arranged logically, therefore, I find it quite easy to locate every article that interests me. In addition, I highly appreciate the quality of the magazine’s contents. The attractiveness of the glossy photos and the high standard of journalism are just two of its outstanding features.

As a final point, I would emphasize that I usually depend on this magazine to plan a good trip or suggest one to my friends.

1. What’s the influence of reading on people?

When it comes to the influence or benefits of reading, I can think of the two most important ones. First, the ability to read opens the door to all aspects of education. Reading can really broaden our horizons and update us on the up-to-the-minute news around the world. Besides, when we have to be faced with countless issues in daily life, a well-written novel or an engaging article can let tensions drain away and allow us to decompress.

2. What’s the difference between a newspaper and a magazine?

Well, there are two main differences between these two sources of information. The first one is the publication. A newspaper is generally published more often than a magazine. A newspaper is generally published daily whereas a magazine is published either on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Besides, with regard to content, a newspaper usually contains a range of subjects from sports, cuisine, politics to weather while a magazine focuses on a specific target group such as readers who are interested in a healthy lifestyle and such like.

3. Do you think headlines are important?

Headlines are really among the most important parts of an article. It is the first thing that can grab the attention of the reader or web visitor. The headlines, in effect, are the first real point of connection with prospective customers, so the authors need to get them right. Creating a catchy headline is extremely important to bring the reader in to view an article, I suppose.
